The Dominion, organizer of The Dominion Curling Club Championship, is committed to handling your information responsibly and to maintaining the accuracy, confidentiality and security of your personal information disclosed to us in connection with our curling event. Personal information is any information about you, and it may include sensitive information, such as medical or financial information, as well as publicly available information, such as a public directory listing of your name, address and telephone number.
For the purposes of The Dominion Curling Club Championship, The Dominion has adopted the privacy practices disclosed in this Privacy Statement. The practices address how we collect, use and disclose personal information, and how we maintain its accuracy, confidentiality and security. We may amend these practices from time to time. The responsibilities and commitments of The Dominion to protect personal information in connection with insurance are described in our Privacy Policy, which is available at thedominion.ca.
The personal information of participants (volunteers, players and others) will be collected, used and disclosed only for the purposes of The Dominion Curling Club Championship. The Dominion may collect this information from you using forms, including the Volunteer Information Form, the Volunteer and Player Registration Forms and the Competitors’ Guide. Also, volunteers assisting The Dominion may collect information from you on our behalf. Once collected, your personal information will be kept confidential and securely stored using reasonable safeguards to protect it from loss, theft and unauthorized access or disclosure.
For volunteers, some examples of how your personal information may be used in connection with The Dominion Curling Club Championship include:
- information (names, phone numbers, emails and addresses) to contact you concerning volunteer opportunities at The Dominion Curling Club Championship;
- information regarding your special skills and experiences, as well as your personal preferences regarding volunteer assignments, to determine the area in which you will be requested to volunteer;
- your curling club affiliation, to assist us in soliciting volunteers for future Dominion-sponsored curling events, should they be held at your home club; and
- information regarding your availability prior to and during the event will be used to assign duties, and for the creation of a volunteer schedule.
Certain volunteer roles give rise to additional personal information obligations or requirements. For example, players' liaisons may handle the personal information of players, and the driving records of volunteer drivers may need to be reviewed. In these circumstances, The Dominion will advise you of these additional obligations or requirements and take additional steps necessary to handle your personal information in accordance with its privacy practices.
For players, some examples of how your personal information may be used include:
- contact information, to provide you with information about The Dominion Curling Club Championship; and
- biographical information collected in the Player Biographical Questionnaire (found in the Competitors’ Guide), in publications relating to The Dominion Curling Club Championship.
For both players and volunteers, emergency contact information will be used (and may be disclosed) in the case of a medical emergency occurring during the event
Contact information is a combination of publicly available information and personal information. Your contact information will be retained following The Dominion Curling Club Championship for the purpose of communicating with you regarding future curling events sponsored by or otherwise connected with The Dominion, including but not limited to invitations to future tournaments and information regarding volunteer and sponsorship opportunities. In addition, some information may be aggregated to conduct statistical studies. When personal information is no longer needed for the purposes described above, it will be destroyed.
The Dominion Curling Club Championship will not sell, rent, or lease your personal information, or other information relating to you, to any organization.
The Dominion Curling Club Championship will disclose your personal information where required by law to do so.
You may contact The Dominion at any time to access, review and/or update your personal information; withdraw your consent for its collection, use or disclosure; or request that it be destroyed rather than retained.
