The Dominion Curling Club Championship
November 25, 2008
Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company (The Dominion) is pleased to introduce The Dominion Curling Club Championship. The Dominion Curling Club Championship is intended to fill the gap between the everyday club curler and the "competitive" curlers who regularly compete on a national level. Their goal is to provide every club curler the opportunity to compete beyond their club for a Canadian title.
While the MCA fully supports this concept we are at this time unable to find the human or time resources to host this championship. The Dominion has agreed to cover all of the cost of hosting this Championship at both the National and Provincial levels. We believe this opens up an excellent opportunity for a Manitoba Club to host the Provincial Finals with no financial risk. If your Club is interested in taking advantage of this wonderful opportunity the MCA would ask that you please send a letter to the MCA expressing your club's interest in hosting this event. The MCA has extended this deadline from November 28 to December 15, 2008.
The first National Championship will be held in November 2009 and the Provincial Champion does not have to be declared until November 2nd of 2009 which provides your club with the opportunity to kick off the 2009 season by hosting the Provincial Championship.
Should you have any questions regarding this please do not hesitate to contact Shane Ray at 925-5723 or by email at mca.executive@curlmanitoba.org.
The MCA is also pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with the Dominion to push back the deadline for clubs to declare interest to declare interest in participating in the Championship from November 30 to January 15, 2009.
