WHAT:
The 2009 Spinal Tap Charity Curling Bonspiel will be playing host to 10 of the biggest stars in curling. All but Werenich are participating in the tournament alongside recreational participants and and will also feature in a celebrity "Skins Game."
The Skins Game will feature Team Howard vs. Team Jennifer Jones in a rematch of January's Casino Rama Curling Skins Game, with $1,000 up for grabs in each end ($4,000 total). Team Howard will be playing for Shoot For A Cure Curling, the fundraising campaign of Canadian Spinal Research Organization (CSRO) while Team Jones will be playing for the Sandra Schmirler Foundation, in support of neo-natal care.
In a twist which promotes awareness of the Paralympic sport of Wheelchair Curling, the celebrities will throw from a chair in two of the four ends.
This is all part of the 18th annual SPINAL TAP MIXED BONSPIEL, the flagship event in the Shoot For A Cure Curling campaign, which has raised over $250,000 for spinal injury research.
